声と言葉が世界を耕す
――「声になる町」
ART FARMing 2025「声になる町」The Town is A Voice は、名古屋市錦二丁目（通称「長者町エリア」）を拠点に展開されるアートプロジェクトです。言葉や文字、詩、音、映像をモチーフに、展示・ライブパフォーマンス・YouTube配信を組み合わせ、国内外のアーティスト／デザイナー、学生、市民が共に、創造的な「町」で声をあげていく試みです。
ART FARMingは元々「アートやデザインの発信者」が集まるような土壌を名古屋の街の中心部につくり、アーチストの畑となるべく2019年から継続中のプロジェクトであり、今回もインタラクティブな参加型の形式でのプロジェクト行います。
展覧会の形で日本で活動するアーティストや詩人・サウンドアーティストなどのクリエイターが集うのみならず、地元の美術・映像系の大学生、オーストラリアのメディアアーティスト達やセルビア・ギリシャの写真・映像作家・タイの伝統音楽と舞踊の学校など国際色豊かながグループが、それぞれにこの「ART FARM」の畑をつかって、自分たちの作りたい世界を声や言葉や音で作りだして参加する国際色豊かで幅広いジャンルでの催しとなります。
本プロジェクトは、国際芸術祭あいち2025の開催期間およびテーマと連動しており、全体テーマ「灰と薔薇のあいだに」が詩人アドニスの詩の一節に由来することに呼応しています。 このアドニスの代表作であるA Time Between Ashes and Rosesの中では、“灰”も“薔薇”も単なるメタファーにとどまらず、過去と未来がせめぎ合う〈現在〉を可視化する地層として扱われています。アドニスはこの間にある「現在」の声と言葉が世界を耕し直し、「次」生み出す契機になり得ると示しているのではないかと考えています。
私たちがここでつくろうとする「声になる町」は、自分とは違う「隣人」たちとアートや音、言葉や音楽、身体の表現を一緒に発信することを通じて、次を生み出す土壌としての「場」であることを目指しています。どうぞ皆さんも参加者としてこの「町」に加わり、あなたの声も重ねていただければと思います。

Throughout the project period, exhibitions will transform and rotate every week or two. The exhibition spaces will also serve as stages for performances and music events held multiple times. We warmly invite you to check the schedule and experience the diversity of programs on offer.

Voices and Words Cultivating the World
— The Town is A Voice
ART FARMing 2025: The Town Becomes a Voice is an art project based in Nishiki 2-chome, Nagoya (commonly known as the Chojamachi area). Using words, text, poetry, sound, and moving images as motifs, it weaves together exhibitions, live performances, and YouTube streaming. Artists, designers, students, and citizens from Japan and abroad will come together to raise their voices in a creative “town.”
Originally launched in 2019, ART FARMing began with the idea of creating fertile soil in the heart of Nagoya—a field for artists and designers to grow. Continuing in this spirit, the 2025 edition also embraces an interactive, participatory format.
This will not only bring together artists, poets, and sound creators active in Japan, but also involve local art and media students, media artists from Australia, photographers and filmmakers from Serbia and Greece, and a Thai school of traditional music and dance. Each will use this ART FARM “field” to cultivate their own worlds through voices, words, and sounds, creating a richly international and multidisciplinary event.
This project resonates with the Aichi Triennale 2025, its period and its overarching theme “A Time Between Ashes and Roses”, drawn from a poem by Adonis. In this seminal work, both “ashes” and “roses” are treated not as mere metaphors but as geological strata that make visible the present moment—a terrain where past and future collide. Adonis suggests that voices and words emerging in this in-between “present” can cultivate the world anew, becoming the very seeds of what comes next.
What we aim to create here, then, is a “town that becomes a voice”—a place where expressions of art, sound, words, music, and the body are shared with neighbors who are different from ourselves. It is a soil from which the “next” can emerge. We hope you too will join us as participants in this “town,” adding your own voice to the chorus.

オーストラリアのディーキン大学の研究者／制作者（マリア・ベイツ、ケイティ・リー、アントニア・ポント、コリン・トレッチャー、ジャシンタ・ケイ）と日本のアーティスト（山田亘、河村陽介、村田仁、沖啓介）、そしてセルビアのアーティスト、デヤン・イリッチが結びつき、異文化に根ざすアーティスト達が隣り合う限られた空間の中で「ネイバーフッド（ご近所）」というメタファー（比喩）を通して、創造的な共生のあり方を探るメディア・アートの展覧会です。

This media art exhibition brings together researchers and makers from Deakin University, Australia (Maria Bates, Katie Lee, Antonia Pont, Colin Trechter, Jacinta Kay), Japanese artists (Ko Yamada, Yosuke Kawamura, Jin Murata, Keisuke Oki), and Serbian artist Dejan Ilic. Within a limited space where artists from different cultural backgrounds work side by side, the project explores possibilities of creative coexistence through the metaphor of a “neighborhood.”

A live recording of Poet Radio by poets Jin Murata and Katsuhiko Murata will be held in the exhibition space.
(Only on Sunday, Nov. 2, 14:00–17:00)

Visitors are invited to write their own words and place them in bottles scattered around the gallery.
From these “message bottles,” the poets will create new poems during the live radio recording.

セルビア共和国、クラグイェヴァツ市で毎年開催される国際芸術写真祭フォトラマ・フェスティバル（FOTORAMA INTERNATIONAL ART PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL）との協働企画、今年セルビアで行われる展覧会と同時進行で開催されます。セルビアからは Marko Stamatović 氏の下で写真を学ぶ新進写真家達、ギリシャからはYpatia Kornarou氏及び氏が指導する学生グループ、日本からは山田 亘が指導する愛知淑徳大学の学生、長者町スクール・オブ・アーツの新進写真家達が「15」という数字から想起される物語や意味から写真作品として作り上げた展覧会です。
実はフォトラマ・フェスティバルは今年の開催が15年目、そして国際芸術祭あいち（あいちトリエンナーレ）も今年で15年目を向かえます。どちらのフェスティバルとも同時に連携企画プロジェクトとしてある「声になる町」のこの偶然を「15」という数字から3つの国のこれからの若きクリエイター達がそれぞれの文化や背景に根ざした「15」という数字への解釈を披露します。

This is a collaborative project with the FOTORAMA International Art Photography Festival, an annual event held in Kragujevac, Republic of Serbia. The exhibition is being presented concurrently with the festival in Serbia. From Serbia, emerging photographers studying under Marko Stamatović are participating; from Greece, Ypatia Kornarou and the student group she mentors; and from Japan, students from Aichi Shukutoku University under the guidance of Ko Yamada, as well as emerging photographers from the Chojamachi School of Arts. Together, they have created photographic works inspired by the stories and meanings evoked by the number “15.”
In fact, this year marks the 15th anniversary of both the FOTORAMA Festival and the Aichi International Arts Festival (Aichi Triennale). As part of the collaborative project The Town is a Voice, this remarkable coincidence is celebrated by young creators from three countries, each presenting their interpretations of the number “15,” rooted in their own cultures and backgrounds.

「波を綜う」
時代の波、歴史の波、経済の波、人の波
様々な潮流を感じつつ春には決めていたタイトル。
この3年のシリーズは空、地、海を入れたタイトルにしようと思っていましたが海を暗喩で波にしました。春に決める時はその年の作品は決まっておらず直感的です。
でも海や波を寄せて海外のゲスト2人が参加してくださることになったので、それもタイトルが呼び寄せてくれたのかもしれません。
町の方達や協力してくださる方達のお世話になりながら2019年の芸術祭の年に始まったコットンプロジェクトです。
泳ぐ時に水を自分に向かって動かしている気がする。目の前の水を集めて後方に押して進んでいく。
流れの中で、時にたたずみ、流され、抗い、でも前に進んでいきたい。

"Twining the Waves"
The waves of the times, the waves of history, the waves of the economy, the waves of people. I decided on this title in the spring, sensing various trends.
I had intended to use a title incorporating the sky, the earth, and the sea for this three-year series, but I chose waves as a metaphor for the sea. When I decided on this title in the spring, I didn't have a set work for that year in mind, so it's intuitive.
But the ocean and waves brought two international guests to participate, so perhaps the title was also what drew them.
This cotton project began in 2019, the year of the art festival, with the support of local residents and other supporters.
When swimming, it feels like you're moving the water toward you. You gather the water in front of you and push it backwards to move forward.
In the current, sometimes you stand, sometimes you're swept away, sometimes you resist, but you still want to move forward.
Surely, towns are made up of people like that.

2022年の国際芸術祭あいち連携企画として行った「ART FARMing TV」で行って好評を博した「テレビ・スタジオ」展が今年2025年も帰ってきました！ 11月29日（土）13:00~21時は、コットンビル1階 GROUNDが ART FARMing TVの公開生放送収録スタジオとなります。 テレビ番組のためのスタジオセットという特殊な空間そのものが展示空間となり、来場者はスタジオを作品として眺めたり、収録中の放送に出演したりと鑑賞と参加の線引きを曖昧にした参加型アート企画です。
In 2022, ART FARMing TV presented the exhibition “Television Studio” as part of the Aichi Triennale Partnership Program, and it was met with great acclaim. Now, in 2025, the exhibition returns!
On Saturday, November 29, 13:00–21:00, the GROUND space on the 1st floor of the Cotton Building will transform into a public live-broadcast studio for ART FARMing TV.
In this project, the unique environment of a studio set created for a television program becomes the exhibition space itself. Visitors can view the studio as an artwork, appear in the live recording, and move freely between watching and participating—an interactive art project that deliberately blurs the boundaries between audience and performer.

Once again, artist Hirotaka Yasuhara’s Otona Shokudō—this time in the form of the “Otona Bar”—will be set up alongside the event.
During the loosely structured, gently meandering broadcast schedule, visitors can enjoy a festive, end-of-project atmosphere together. This will be the final event of ART FARMing 2025 “The Town is A Voice.”

① Multimedia Theatrical Performance ”Crow and Elephant in Dialogue”
A theatrical performance of moving images and music by artist Hitomi Hasegawa, interwoven with the sound of the khaen (a traditional Thai mouth organ) performed as part of a Thai spirit-calling ritual. Through this encounter, two creatures rooted in different cultures exchange perspectives and come to a deeper understanding of themselves.

2020年のコロナ禍の最中、前年2019年に行った長者町スクール・オブ・アーツのプロジェクト「ART FARMing」の記録誌出版パーティーが、感染防止のため開催できない状況になったことから、会わなくても楽しめる放送上のイベントとしてYouTubeライブの放送イベントを２日間連続で行ったことから始まった[ART FARMing TV] 幻の第一回放送の後、月一の定例ライブ放送の他、様々な単発企画ビデオなども作りながら５年以上続けてきています。
